Soares: GSP Is Not Worthy Of Anderson Silva

When asked by ProMMARadio about a potential fight with St. Pierre, Silva's manager and trainer had this to say:

"That sounds great, I think GSP is an incredible fighter. But I think GSP needs to prove himself. He still hasn't had a successful title defense (at 170 lbs.). I don't really feel that he deserves (a Silva fight) yet. Go defend your title a few times and then we'll talk."

Which prompted Cage Potato to say this:

The thing is, St. Pierre has proven himself many times over to be an elite-level fighter, and Soares is veering uncomfortably close to Juanito Ibarra territory, wild statement-wise. But what makes his dismissal of GSP particularly ironic is that Spider's next fight is likely going to be against Patrick Cote, who doesn't deserve to be in the same room as Silva or GSP. With Yushin Okami suffering a broken hand, Cote is really and truly next in line for a title shot; that little shitshow could happen at UFC 88 (September 6th, Atlanta).

A relatively one-dimensional striker, Cote doesn't bring any more to the table than James Irvin did, and their bout will almost certainly be another brief exhibition for Silva. The silver lining is that with this belt-defense obligation out of the way quickly, Silva will be free to "test the waters" at light-heavyweight again — and he does plan on fighting at least one more time before the end of the year.

ok Ben we might have a debate on this one,and its not about GSP. Im a little lost as to why you would think the Cote/Silva fight would end soo quickly. Looking at Cote's record there has been absolutely nobody that has actually hurt him with a punch or even decisively beat him on the feet. Out of the few people that did submit him, they were both strong wrestlers which Anderson is not. Dont expect Cote to gas out and fall into a triangle either, his cardio is superior to Lutters. I personally expect this to be Silvas toughest test to date inside of the UFC.

First off...GSP is in the Elite class of Dominant fighters ( Fedor, Silva, Penn, Faber) he's beaten the crap out of Hughes twice and had outclassed Koschek and Serra both... I laugh when I hear the rumors of another Hughes GSP fight. True story that GSP needs to defend the belt but he's focused and I truly beleive that we haven't seen the best of Georges. Another thing i would like to point out is the fact that these 2 ( Georges and Anderson) are 2 of the classiest men that this sport will ever see!!! ...As an MMA fan I hope that Cote has a lot more to bring at Spider but I do not believe he will have his hand raised...WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK OF FITCH AND HIS CHANCES AGAINST GSP??? I am way too biased on the side of GSP so i wanna know what you guys think...?

I'm with you JCota1. GSP IS an elite fighter. So what about GSP vs Fitch? I have just one thing to say about this upcoming fight..."GSP vs Koschek". GSP DOMINATED Koshek at his own game. He made Koschek look silly. Fitch is an excellent fighter/wrestler (hust like Koschek) but this will be another win for GSP. GSP is stronger, faster, better than Fitch. If GSP has his mental game in place and his head screwed on straight I don't see how Fitch could beat him.
